our water heater, which was original to the house some 20+ years ago, finally went. unfortunately it also did some water damage when it went. so after replacing the water heater we are living for 5 days with the noise of 3 fans and a dehumidifier. the tv volume has to go up. conversation level has to go up. it just sucks. yes it will save our walls from black mold, but it is annoying to have a constant noise level. GRRRRRRRRRRR.
jim's trip was a bit like the movie "planes, trains, and automobiles." if he wasn't missing connections, he was staying at a hotel with no restaraunts nearby. finally when the final screw up happened and they sent him home instead of the third stop, they sent his luggage to the third stop anyways. it should arrive home by midnight tonight. yeah, i missed him and we survived at home without him just fine. he brought home 2 john deere hats for the boys and a matching tshirt for me. it was his first business trip in 4 years. let's just say the traveling gods didn't like him at all! LOL
our oldest dog, lizzie, ran away saturday night while we were out to dinner and hasn't been seen since. we have driven allllllllllllllll around this neighborhood and there is no sign of her. jim is going to check the animal shelter today and we have a flyer ready to hang up. i really hope we find her. she's a great dog. :(
saturday night, i finally got my 5th tattoo, one that i have been wanting for 2 years now. it represents my hubby, kids, nieces, and how i intend to raise them in the christian faith. it's a fleur de lis, or a french cross, with their birthstones or in jim's case, the stone he keeps buying me (sapphire). i LOVE it. yes it hurt at first. but it was so worth it and reasonably priced.
okay so it's been a busy week. we survived it. have a happy 4th of july all! we'll eat lunch with my family then i'm going out that night with a friend.

i swore i would never do kiddie concerts. but i need a really big carrot to motivate him to finish potty training. carrot #1: a new bedding set with his fave Lightning McQueen character to go on his big boy bed. carrot #2: he loves the wiggles, thus i bought him tickets to see them live in concert in about a month. sigh, fine i'll sit for a few hours of torture if it will convince him to poop/pee in the potty and not in his pants at night. see the things us parents do for love? notice i'm not torturing my hubby too.
I firmly believe that kids need to learn that you don't always get paid for a job well done. Sometimes you just do it for a good feeling of helping other people. Heck, I did it for 4 years as a teenager. So this summer he's helping out at the library that I work at for 4 seperate weeks, for maybe a few hours at most. I'm starting him slow. At 10 he'll catch on quickly. ;) He did great his first day! He helped shelve some board books (you know, the ones that babies chew on), then helped pass out clown noses and direct traffic for the program. He got upset for a second when a lady parked her stroller in the wrong spot. LOL Overall, he was very helpful and everyone at work loved him.
a few summers back, jim worked 52 hours a week and was gone 6 days, including saturday. it was a long and stressful summer. yesterday all that work came together for the lockheed martin team. the stovall (spelling?) version of the joint strike fighter flew! woohoo! to celebrate, the company rented out billy bob's, a local huge nightclub, and fed us good mexican food and comped us the first drink. they've done this once before when another plane flew. the pilot, who was british, received a cowboy hat. LOL the entertainment was Jack Ingram, a country singer that is fairly well known around here. it was a fun evening!
one exception was sitting in traffic for one hour on the way home. the hold up wasn't an accident or anything major. it was a car with a flat tire that 5 guys couldn't be bothered to push to the side of the road. *insert furious smiley* talk about a buzz kill. @@
If you had to go on a two-week vacation with any celebrity, who would you pick as your traveling companion and where would you go?
